End of summer water level minimums

Summer water level minimums ended on Oct. 14, 2024 (Thanksgiving Monday). On this day, OPG adjusts operations within the allowable operating levels during the fall and winter months. This can result in lower water levels.

Additionally, when the proper environmental conditions have been reached, water levels on the Madawaska River – between Calabogie and Stewartville generating stations – are lowered to within allowable operating levels to encourage amphibians and reptiles to hibernate safely. This is an initiative supported by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry.

Please be advised that the water temperature and weather conditions have been reached.

The drawdown is scheduled to begin the week of December 2, 2024.

Residents and businesses along these rivers are advised to take all necessary precautions to ensure the lower water levels do not impact property.

A message about this has been posted on opg.com/eastern and water level and flow data is available here.
