Countdown to Christmas (Advent) Book Bundles

Families who have registered for this program can pick up their bundles November 26 - November 30 during library operating hours.

Letter to Santa

The library will support Canada Post’s ‘Letter to Santa’ program with some letter-writing tools, envelopes, and stickers. Drop by to pick up a kit. No stamps are required to post. Drop off your letter at the nearest post office no later than December 6, 2024 to receive a reply before the holidays.

Bascetta Star Workshop

Friday, December 6, 12pm-2pm 

This is one of our favourite seasonal paper decorations, based on Paolo Bascetta’s design. Contact the library if interested in attending before December 5.

Danish Hearts - Workshop for families (and friends!)

Saturday, December 14, 12:30pm-1:30pm

Danish hearts are one of Denmark's traditional Christmas decorations. The tradition of weaving hearts dates back to the 1800s. The hearts are made from material (paper, felt, grasses, etc.) in two contrasting colours in such a way as to form a small basket. These are often filled with candy. Weaving hearts in Denmark is an experience shared with friends and family. Please contact the library with a valid library card if interested in joining and indicate the number of your group-- this helps ensure that we have adequate supplies.

Christmas Holiday Hours: The library will be closed December 24 - 26, December 31, and January 1. We will maintain regular operating hours through the rest of the holiday season. Regular operating hours: OPEN Tues/Wed 9am-6pm; Thurs/Fri 9am-1pm; Sat 9am-2pm.

Countdown to Christmas (Advent) Book Bundles

Registration for Countdown to Christmas (Advent) book bundles is now open. 'Countdown to Christmas' is a literacy program for young families to enjoy at home. How it works: Families register to receive a bundle of gift-wrapped books from the library's youth collection. One book is unwrapped each night of December until Christmas Day. Included in the bundle will be a book that families can keep to enjoy in future years. We limit participation to 12 families, and one bundle per family. This year, we invite families to opt in for a festive wrapping session at the library on November 23 with cider, coffee, tea. Come, meet some neighbours, and assemble a book bundle for the young readers in your family. Register online before November 15 using the form link below. We'll try to rebook for March of 2025 on a Tuesday/ Wednesday evening or a Saturday afternoon.
